Iconic annual oceanside festivals

Chillies

Every year on the first Saturday in July, the coastal village of Sawtell sparks to life with Australia’s definitive Chilli Festival. First Avenue transforms into a fiery foodie fiesta, featuring over 100 chilli-themed stalls alongside local cafés and restaurants who offer spicy specials just for the occasion. Expect live music, cooking demonstrations, kids’ zones, chilli-eating competitions and tongue-tingling aromas under the famous fig trees.

Held each September in Woolgoolga’s Beach Reserve and main street, Curryfest honours the town’s rich Punjabi heritage with curries from around the world, Bhangra dance performances, a cultural bazaar and cooking demos hosted by regional chefs. Drawing more than 15,000 visitors each year, it’s a vibrant celebration of food, music, diversity and community on the Coffs Coast.
